What is personal information?

Broadly, “personal information” is any information about an identified individual or an individual who can be reasonably identified from the information. Personal Information may include your name, postal address, email address, telephone number, social media handle, professional or employment related details, or other identifier by which you may be contacted online or offline. 

If you are someone who uses our products, including clinical trial participants, we may collect additional specific information about your use of our products and you, such as your gender, date of birth, medical history and conditions, treatment efficacy and results, device information, medical inquiries you or your physician make, and your participation in clinical trials.  We may receive some of this information from you directly or from third parties, such as your healthcare professional.  Some of this information may be, but is not always, anonymized or de-identified. 

If you are a shareholder, we may collect information concerning our investors from our share registrar.

If you are a supplier, vendor, healthcare professional, or other external stakeholder, we may collect additional specific information including information about your professional details, practice specialty and areas of interest, membership of professional associations, product usage and your dealings with us.

If you are a job applicant, employee, or contractor, we may also collect personal information about you during your employment or engagement with us.  This information may include your gender, date of birth, contact details, and information collected in our employment records. The collection of personal information from job applicants may be obtained from third parties, such as a recruitment agency or from reference checks.

What personal information do we collect and how do we collect it?

What information we collect, and how we collect it, will depend upon the nature of your dealings with us. 

We may collect several types of information from and about users of our Website, including (1) personal information, (2) information that is about you but individually does not identify you, or (3) about your internet connection, the equipment you use to access our Website, and usage details.

We also may collect information about you from  third parties (including third parties from whom we purchase personal information) and from publicly available information. We may combine this information with personal information provided by you. This helps us update, expand, and analyze our records, identify new customers, and create more tailored advertising to provide products, services, and information that may be of interest to you. Why do we collect, hold and use your personal information?

We collect, hold and use your personal information that we collect about you or that you provide to us so that we can:

  • Contact you, for example, to respond to your queries or complaints, or if we need to tell you something important;

How do we store and hold personal information?

Who do we disclose your personal information to, and why?

We may transfer or disclose your personal information to our related companies.

There is no charge for requesting access to your personal information, but we may require you to meet our reasonable costs in providing you with access (such as photocopying costs or costs for time spent on collating large amounts of material).

We will respond to your requests to access or correct personal information in a reasonable time and will take all reasonable steps to ensure that the personal information we hold about you remains accurate, up to date and complete.

Your rights under the Australian Privacy Laws

If you have rights as an individual under the Australian Privacy Act 1988 (“Privacy Act”), the Privacy Act allows you to:

  • know why your personal information is being collected;
  • have the option of not identifying yourself, or of using a pseudonym in certain circumstances;
  • ask for access to your personal information (including your health information);
  • stop receiving unwanted direct marketing;
  • ask for your personal information that is incorrect to be corrected; and
  • make a complaint about an organization or agency the Privacy Act covers, if you think they’ve mishandled your personal information.

Children under the age of 16
